If alert notifications continue after a trial, site, or environment has been removed, use the steps below to identify any remaining alert sources and notification paths.
What to expect after a trial is canceled
A free-trial cancellation must be requested through Auvik Support. The account is disabled after the request is processed. Monitoring, collectors, devices, and alerts associated with the disabled account should no longer generate new activity.
Notifications that were already generated before the account was disabled may still be delivered, depending on when they entered the notification or integration workflow.
For more information, see How do I cancel my account during free trial?.
If alerts are still arriving
1. Confirm the account or environment status
If the entire trial or account was canceled, contact Auvik Support to confirm that the cancellation was completed.
Provide:
- Auvik account or domain name.
- Organization, tenant, or site name.
- The approximate time the cancellation was requested.
- A recent alert subject and timestamp.
If only a site was removed, confirm that the site was deleted or disabled at the intended level. Disabling a site stops monitoring and alerting while preserving historical data. Deleting a site is permanent and cannot be undone.
2. Check for remaining collectors
If a collector VM or appliance was powered off or deleted without being removed from Auvik, a Collector Disconnected alert may continue to be generated while the collector object remains in the portal.
- Go to Auvik Collectors.
- Locate collectors associated with the retired environment.
- Confirm that the collector is permanently retired.
- Reject or delete the collector as appropriate.
Do not delete a collector that may reconnect. A deleted collector that is still powered on and connected can reappear in Auvik and require approval.
See How do I manage my collectors?.
For shared collectors, review whether the Auvik Collector Disconnected alert is configured to notify once from the parent multi-site. This can prevent duplicate notifications across child sites.
See Reduce shared collector disconnected alert noise.
3. Remove remaining notification paths
If the environment still exists in Auvik, review its notification channels and alert associations.
- Go to Manage Alerts > Notification Channels.
- Identify channels created specifically for the retired environment.
- Remove obsolete recipients or delete the channel.
- Review the alerts associated with the channel.
- Disable or unassociate alert rules that should no longer send notifications.
Deleting a notification channel removes it from the alerts to which it was associated. If it was the only channel associated with an alert, the alert changes to No Notification.
See How do I add, edit, or delete notification channels?.
4. Review alert definitions
Review remaining alert definitions for references to the retired site, collector, or devices.
- Go to Manage Alerts.
- Search for alerts associated with the retired environment.
- Disable or delete alerts that are no longer required.
- Confirm that shared or inherited alerts were not unintentionally changed for other sites.
If the goal is only to stop notifications while retaining alert history, set the alert to No Notification or remove its notification channels instead of deleting the alert.
See How do I add, edit, or delete alerts?.
5. Check external integrations
If alerts create PSA, help-desk, webhook, or other integration activity:
- Review the notification channels associated with the retired environment.
- Remove or disable obsolete integration channels.
- Confirm that no remaining alert definitions are mapped to those channels.
- If required, have the PSA or integration administrator disconnect or disable the external workflow.
Existing tickets may remain in the external system even after Auvik alert delivery has been stopped. Review and close those tickets according to your normal process.
If alerts continue
Collect the following information before contacting Support:
- Exact alert subject.
- Alert name, if available.
- Timestamp, including timezone.
- Remaining site, tenant, collector, or device name.
- Auvik account or domain name.
- Whether the notification was an email, PSA ticket, webhook, or another integration.
- Any related alert or integration error message.
Auvik Support can determine whether the account or environment is still active and help identify any remaining alert source or delivery path.
