Auvik uses different timezone settings for the web interface, organization-level notifications, and maintenance windows. Understanding these differences helps you correlate alerts with device logs, reports, and third-party systems.
How alert timestamps are displayed
Alert and device timestamps displayed in the Auvik web interface use the timezone of the individual user’s workstation.
They do not use the timezone of the monitored device, site, or datacenter.
For example, if an event occurs at 3:00 a.m. in the datacenter’s local timezone and the workstation used to access Auvik is two hours ahead, the alert may appear at 5:00 a.m. in the Auvik web interface.
To confirm the timezone used by the Auvik web interface:
- Check the timezone configured on the workstation you are using to access Auvik.
- Confirm that the workstation’s date, time, and daylight-saving settings are correct.
- Refresh Auvik and review the alert timestamp again.
The displayed alert time may differ between two users if they are accessing Auvik from workstations configured for different timezones.
How to set the organization timezone
The organization timezone is used for organization-level scheduling, including daily alert summary emails and maintenance windows.
To change the organization timezone:
- Go to Settings > Organization.
- Select the appropriate timezone.
- Click Save.
The organization timezone does not override the workstation timezone used to display alert and device timestamps in the Auvik web interface.
How to set the daily alert summary time
The organization settings also include the time used for daily alert summary emails.
- Go to Settings > Organization.
- Locate Send daily alert summary emails at.
- Select the hour when the summary should be sent.
- Click Save.
This setting applies to daily alert summary emails. It does not change the timezone displayed in the Auvik web interface for individual users.
Maintenance windows
Maintenance windows use the organization timezone by default.
When creating or reviewing a maintenance window:
- Confirm the organization timezone under Settings > Organization.
- Confirm that the maintenance-window time is correct for that timezone.
- Review the start and end times before saving the window.
- Confirm that the window covers the intended sites, devices, or alert scope.
A maintenance window configured using the wrong organization timezone may suppress alerts during an unintended period or fail to suppress alerts during the planned maintenance.

How device logs and Auvik timestamps may differ
Device logs may display timestamps using the device’s local timezone. Differences between device logs and Auvik timestamps are expected when the systems use different timezones.
When comparing an Auvik alert with a device log:
- Identify the timezone used by the Auvik workstation.
- Identify the timezone used by the device log.
- Convert both timestamps to the same timezone.
- Compare the events using the converted times.
Using NTP across network devices can help keep device logs consistent and make event correlation easier. NTP configuration must be managed by the appropriate network or device administrator.
Exports and integrations
Exports and third-party integrations may display timestamps using their own timezone or timestamp format.
For example, webhook alert notifications use UTC/GMT rather than the timezone displayed in the Auvik dashboard.
When comparing timestamps from Auvik, device logs, exports, and third-party systems:
- Confirm the timezone or timestamp format used by each source.
- Convert all timestamps to a common reference, such as UTC or your local timezone.
- Record the timezone when sharing alert examples with other teams or Support.
- Be aware that Zendesk, PSA, email, and other systems may display timestamps according to their own account or server settings.
Troubleshooting timestamp mismatches
If an alert timestamp appears incorrect:
- Confirm the timezone configured on the workstation used to access Auvik.
- Confirm the organization timezone under Settings > Organization.
- Determine whether the timestamp came from the Auvik web interface, a daily summary email, a report, a webhook, or another integration.
- Confirm the timezone used by the device or system log being compared.
- Convert the timestamps to a common timezone.
- Refresh Auvik and review the timestamp again.
If the difference is a consistent number of hours, the issue is likely caused by different timezone settings rather than clock drift.
If timestamps still appear incorrect after checking the relevant settings, contact Auvik Support and provide:
- Alert name or alert ID
- Affected device, interface, or service
- Site or organization
- Displayed timestamp
- Expected timestamp
- Timezone configured on the workstation
- Organization timezone
- Source of the timestamp, such as the dashboard, email, report, webhook, Zendesk, or PSA
- Relevant device-log timestamps and timezone
