How to update Auvik device classes to sync to ServiceNow CMDB?

You can add or remove Auvik device classes to sync to ServiceNow CMDB to meet your organization’s needs. By default, firewalls (firewall, utm), routers (router), and switches (bridge, layer 3 switch, stack, switch, VoIP switch) are included.

Add device class to sync for all Auvik tenants

  1. In ServiceNow, navigate to Service Graph Connector -> Auvik -> Auvik Device Mappings.
  2. Click on an existing record where the Tenant field is empty, the Mapping Type field is Inclusion and Active is checked. Alternatively, you can create a new record with:
    • Tenant field is empty
    • Mapping Type field is Inclusion
    • Active is checked
  3. Click on the lock icon beside the Device Type field to edit.
  4. Select additional device classes to include using the dropdown.
  5. Click Update.

If Enable Delta Sync is set to Yes, perform the following to sync devices:

  1. Disable delta sync (see How to update device sync options for Auvik / ServiceNow CMDB integration?)
  2. Manually run a device sync (see How to manually run a device and tenant sync for Auvik / ServiceNow CMDB integration?).
  3. Restore the Enable Delta Sync setting.

Note: Exclusion rules take priority over inclusion rules.

Review and add required identification and reconciliation rules for the mapped CI classes. For a complete overview, see CMDB Identification and Reconciliation (IRE).

Add device class to sync for a specific Auvik tenant

  1. In ServiceNow, navigate to Service Graph Connector -> Auvik -> Auvik Device Mappings.
  2. Click New to create a new record.
  3. Provide a descriptive name.
  4. Set Mapping Type field to Inclusion.
  5. Check Active.
  6. Click on the lock icon beside the Device Type field to edit.
  7. Select additional device classes to include using the dropdown.
  8. Set the Tenant field to the desired Auvik tenant.
  9. Click Submit.

If Enable Delta Sync is set to Yes, perform the following to sync devices:

  3. Restore the Enable Delta Sync setting.

Remove Auvik device class to sync for all Auvik tenants

  1. In ServiceNow, navigate to Service Graph Connector -> Auvik -> Auvik Device Mappings.
  2. Click on the existing record where all of the following are true:
    • Device Type contains the Auvik device class to remove
    • Tenant field is empty
    • Mapping Type field is Inclusion
    • Active is checked
  3. Click on the lock icon beside the Device Type field to edit.
  4. Select the device class to remove.
  5. Click on the x to remove it from the list.
  6. Click Update.

Remove Auvik device class to sync for a specific Auvik tenant

  1. In ServiceNow, navigate to Service Graph Connector -> Auvik -> Auvik Device Mappings.
  2. Click New to create a new record.
  3. Provide a descriptive name.
  4. Set Mapping Type field to Exclusion.
  5. Check Active.
  6. Click on the lock icon beside the Device Type field to edit.
  7. Select the device class to exclude using the dropdown.
  8. Set the Tenant field to the desired Auvik tenant.
  9. Click Submit.

Note: Exclusion rules take priority over inclusion rules.
