How to update device and tenant sync schedule for the Auvik - ServiceNow CMDB integration?

Follow

You can configure how often Auvik tenants and devices are synced to match your needs, so that API calls and processing with no updates are reduced.

Edit how often or when the tenant sync runs

  1. In ServiceNow, navigate to Service Graph Connector -> Auvik -> Import Schedules.
  2. Click on the desired tenant scheduled data import.
    • Default Auvik connection: The scheduled data import name is SG-Auvik Tenants.
    • Other Auvik connections: The scheduled data import name follows the format: SG-Auvik Tenants - <connection name>.
  3. Check Active.
  4. Change the Run field to the desired frequency (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly, periodically, after parent runs, and once).
  5. Set the date and time parameters for the run (e.g. Day, Time).
  6. Click Update.

You may wish to increase or decrease the frequency of the Auvik tenant sync to the ServiceNow CMDB based on your needs. For example, if you expect to add or remove tenants more often than a weekly basis, then you may wish to increase the frequency. On the other hand, if you don’t expect to add or remove tenants often, you can disable the tenant data import schedule and run it manually when needed (see How to manually run a device or tenant sync for Auvik / ServiceNow CMDB integration?).

Disable the tenant sync

  1. In ServiceNow, navigate to Service Graph Connector -> Auvik -> Import Schedules.
  2. Click on the desired tenant scheduled data import.
    • Default Auvik connection: The scheduled data import name is SG-Auvik Tenants.
    • Other Auvik connections: The scheduled data import name follows the format: SG-Auvik Tenants - <connection name>.
  3. Uncheck Active.
  4. Click Update.

Edit how often or when the device sync runs

  1. In ServiceNow, navigate to Service Graph Connector -> Auvik -> Import Schedules.
  2. Click on the desired device scheduled data import.
    • Default Auvik connection: The scheduled data import name is SG-Auvik Devices.
    • Other Auvik connections: The scheduled data import name follows the format: SG-Auvik Devices - <connection name>.
  3. Check Active.
  4. Change the Run field to the desired frequency (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly, periodically, after parent runs, and once).
  5. Set the date and time parameters for the run (e.g. Day, Time).
  6. Click Update.

It is suggested that this is run during off hours e.g. 3AM local time. How often to run (daily, weekly, etc.) will depend on how often you expect devices to change.

Note: This will use the Enable delta sync setting (see How to update device sync options for Auvik / ServiceNow CMDB integration?) to determine whether all devices are synced or just the ones that have changed. It is suggested to use the delta sync to avoid API calls and processing with no updates.

Disable the device sync

  1. In ServiceNow, navigate to Service Graph Connector -> Auvik -> Import Schedules.
  2. Click on the desired device scheduled data import.
    • Default Auvik connection: The scheduled data import name is SG-Auvik Devices.
    • Other Auvik connections: The scheduled data import name follows the format: SG-Auvik Devices - <connection name>.
  3. Uncheck Active.
  4. Click Update.
