Error messages when logging in with Microsoft

Follow

These are the common errors you might encounter when trying to log into Auvik with Microsoft. Error codes and messages are subject to change.

Personal Microsoft account

AADSTS50020: User account 'Some Email Address' from identity provider 'Some Provider' does not exist in tenant 'Auvik Networks Inc.' and cannot access the application 'Some Application' in that tenant. The account needs to be added as an external user in the tenant first. Sign out and sign in again with a different Azure Active Directory user account.

Solution:

Personal accounts, such as Hotmail or Live, are not accepted by Auvik for Log In With Microsoft. You must use an account that’s associated to Office 365 and Azure Active Directory.

Unable to access Microsoft

Login Failed: Auvik could not access your Microsoft account information to complete your login. (err: auth_azurev1_query_error_access_denied)

Solution:

It’s possible you didn’t authorize this particular Microsoft account to be accessed by Auvik. To resolve the error, authorize the connection.

Incorrect Microsoft credentials

Login Failed: Invalid authentication attempt. Please try again. If you've seen this error multiple times, please contact Auvik support for further help. (err: auth_azurev1_missing_form_values)

Solution:

It possible you didn’t authorize this particular Microsoft account to be accessed by Auvik. Confirm the Microsoft user you’re logged in as before clicking Log in with Microsoft again.

If you’re certain you’re using the correct credentials, contact Auvik support.

Microsoft timing out

Login Failed: Single sign-on authentication with Microsoft appears to be timing out due to inactivity. Please re-attempt authentication. If you've seen this error multiple times, please contact Auvik support for further help. (err: auth_azurev1_user_timeout)

Solution:

Your Microsoft account could have been disabled as a result of inactivity. Before trying to log into Auvik using Microsoft, confirm you’re able to log into your Microsoft account first.

If you’re able to log into your Microsoft account and are still seeing this error message, contact Auvik support.

Invalid credentials

Login Failed: Invalid authentication attempt. Please verify your credentials. If you've seen this error multiple times, please contact Auvik support for further help. (err: auth_azurev1_invalid_credentials)

Solution:

The Microsoft credentials you’re using to log into Auvik are unknown. Specifically, you haven’t granted access to your Microsoft account yet. See How to authorize Microsoft to enable single sign-on.

Email mismatch

Association Failed: The email address for the provided Microsoft account does not match your Auvik account email. (err: auth_azurev1_email_addr_association_mismatch)

Solution:

The email address associated to your Microsoft account doesn’t match the email on record in Auvik. This could happen if your Microsoft email address changes, such as with a name change, company email format change, or company domain change.

If any of those are the case, log into Auvik with your previously registered email. If you have the appropriate permissions, send yourself an invitation to your new email address. Otherwise, ask you Auvik administrator to invite you with your new email address.

Invitation failure

Invitation Failed: Invalid invitation code. Please re-send the invitation to the email address associated to your Microsoft account and try again. (err: auth_azurev1_invalid_invitation_code)

Solution:

This error typically appears if you’re already logged into Microsoft with an email address that’s different from the email address the invitation was sent to. It can also appear if you click Log In With Microsoft on the invitation but log into Microsoft with an email address that doesn’t match the email on the invitation.

Make sure you’ve logged into Microsoft with the email address on your invitation.
