Where to see firmware versions for FortiGate-managed access points

Follow

The Access Point list under a FortiGate firewall does not currently support adding a firmware or version column. You can still view firmware information from the access point’s details page or an inventory export when the information is available.

View firmware from the access point details

  1. Go to Inventory.
  2. Open Access Points, or open the access point list from the FortiGate device.
  3. Select the access point.
  4. Review the Software, Firmware, or Operating System field on the device details page.

View firmware from inventory or exports

  1. Open the global device inventory.
  2. Add the Firmware or Operating System column, if available.
  3. Alternatively, export the device inventory.
  4. Review the firmware information for access points where Auvik has discovered the version.

Why firmware may not be available

Firmware information may be missing when:

  • The access point is only listed through the FortiGate controller and is not directly monitored.
  • The access point is unreachable from the collector.
  • Required credentials are missing or invalid.
  • The device does not provide firmware information through an available data source.
  • The access point has not completed a recent polling or discovery cycle.

If firmware is still missing

Ask your Auvik administrator to confirm that the access point is managed and that the required monitoring credentials and network access are configured.

If the firmware version remains unavailable, contact Auvik Support and provide the access point name, management IP address, FortiGate name, and site information.
