Overview
When a site is restored, Auvik is expected to return the site to its previous operational state. In most cases, previously configured credentials, discovery settings, monitors, and site-level configurations are retained.
This article explains what information should persist after a restore and what to verify afterward.
What Is Retained After a Site Restore?
The following items should remain intact after a successful site restore:
Credentials
- SNMP credentials
- Login credentials (SSH/Telnet/API where applicable)
- Discovery authentication settings
Discovery Configuration
- Discovery settings
- Scan behavior and network ranges
- Site-level monitoring configuration
Monitoring and Inventory
- Device inventory
- Monitors and alerting configuration
- Tags and metadata
Network Configuration Data
- Saved device configurations
- Backup history (where applicable)
Recommended Post-Restore Validation
After a restore completes, validate that discovery and monitoring are functioning correctly.
Verify Device Access
- Confirm devices are reachable
- Validate SNMP and login authentication succeeds
Verify Discovery
- Ensure discovery jobs complete successfully
- Confirm devices continue reporting normally
Review Monitoring Configuration
- Check monitors and alerts
- Confirm tags and site organization are present
If Credentials or Configuration Appear Missing
In rare cases, some settings may need to be reapplied.
Reapply Site Credentials
- Navigate to:
Discovery > Manage Credentials - Re-enter or update credentials as needed
- Save changes
Force Rediscovery
- Run a manual rediscovery for the affected site
- Allow devices to reauthenticate and repopulate monitoring data
Validate Backups and Monitoring
- Confirm configuration backups resume successfully
- Verify polling and alerting return to normal
