Device Lifecycle Powered by Aurora

Follow

This article explains how to use Auvik’s Aurora-powered lifecycle management to track Sales Availability (End of Sale or EoS) and Last Support (End of Support - EoSu) dates for your network infrastructure. By automating the discovery of lifecycle milestones across multiple vendors, Auvik helps you proactively plan hardware refreshes, maintain compliance, and identify revenue opportunities.

The Basics

  • Plan Requirement: AI-driven lifecycle data for non-Cisco vendors requires the Performance plan. Customers on the Essentials plan will continue to see only Cisco-specific lifecycle data.

  • Permissions: You must have a role with permissions to view the Device Inventory and Vendor Lifecycle sections.

  • Confidence Threshold: Auvik only displays AI-generated lifecycle data with a confidence score of 70 or higher to ensure accuracy.

  • Vendor Opt-outs: Some vendors may request that their lifecycle data not be displayed; in these cases, the data will be marked as "Not supported."

Using the Lifecycle Data

Step 1 – Access the Vendor Lifecycle View

From the Auvik dashboard, you can view lifecycle data at both the global level and the individual site level.

  1. From the main navigation menu, go to Inventory.

  2. Select Vendor Lifecycle.

  3. You will see a table listing devices along with their current lifecycle status badges.

Step 2 – Interpret Lifecycle Badges and Statuses

Auvik uses a color-coded system to help you quickly identify hardware risks:

  • Green: The milestone date is more than 90 days in the future.

  • Yellow: The milestone date is within 90 days or less.

  • Red: The milestone date (Sale Availability or Last Support) is in the past.

  • Gray: Data is Unknown or Unavailable for that specific model.

Step 3 – Review AI Insights and Sources

For devices enriched by AI, you can view the reasoning and evidence behind the dates provided.

  1. Hover over any lifecycle badge to see a summary popover.

  2. Click the badge to pin the popover open.

  3. Review the Confidence Score (0–100) and the Summary of findings.

  4. Click the provided Source URLs to verify the data directly on the vendor's official documentation

Step 4 – Export Lifecycle Reports

You can export this data to build hardware refresh quotes or compliance reports.

  1. Navigate to the Vendor Lifecycle table.

  2. Click Export to CSV.

  3. The exported file includes specialized fields:

    • Sales Availability and Last Support dates.

    • AI Confidence Score and AI Sourced (True/False) indicators.

    • Source URLs for easy reference during client presentations.

Troubleshooting

I see "Unknown" for some of my devices

  • Possible Cause: The AI confidence score for that specific model was below 70, or Auvik has not yet found authoritative public data for that model.

  • Action: Check back as Aurora will update the data for the tenant once a month.

I don’t see Updated Lifecycle Data

  • Possible Cause: You are currently on the Essentials tier. AI-powered lifecycle discovery for non-Cisco vendors is a Performance tier feature.

  • Action: Contact your Auvik account manager to discuss upgrading your plan.

The date shown is different from what I see on the vendor site

  • Possible Cause: Vendors occasionally update their lifecycle tables. Aurora will refresh the lifecycle data for the tenant monthly.

  • Action: Use the "Report Issue" (if available) or contact Auvik support to provide feedback. Note that manual corrections by Auvik will automatically adjust the confidence score.
