Creating alerts for Internal Ping Checks

You can create alerts that trigger on Internal Ping Check metrics so you’re notified of degradation, not just complete outages.

1. Go to Alert settings in Auvik.

2. Create a new alert definition (or edit an existing one).
   
   

3. In the Apply conditions to (or equivalent) section, select Internal Ping Check as the data source.

4. Add one or more trigger conditions, such as:

   • Packet loss % greater than X for Y samples

   • Average RTT greater than N ms

   • Service Status = Offline or Online

   • Optionally include filters on target IP or device.

5. Configure notification channels and message templates. Use alert variables (like IP, device name, measured values) to provide context in the alert body.

6. Save and assign the alert to the appropriate sites.

With this in place, your team gets notified before users feel the impact—for example, when packet loss spikes or latency slowly climbs over time.
