The sampling rate is indicated in a header field of NetFlow version 5 (same sampling rate for all interfaces) or in option records of NetFlow version 9 (sampling rate per interface). The sampling rate is configured on the device. Click here for our NetFlow sampling rate recommendations.
Please keep in mind that if you configure the sampling rate from your Auvik dashboard, it must also be configured on the device itself because the configuration on the device is what's used.
Some devices don’t allow you to specify a sampling rate. On these devices, you can enable simulated sampling and set the desired sampling rate. This way Auvik will selectively discard part of the flows received to simulate the output it would get if the device was applying sampling.
The following must be completed from the client dashboard.
