Add a New Site

There are two types of site relationships available:

Site

A Site represents a monitored location where devices, collectors, alerts, and inventory are managed.

Use this option when managing a single network location.

Multi-Site

A Multi-Site is an organizational container used to group multiple sites together.

Common examples include:

  • A customer with multiple office locations
  • A business division
  • A geographic region
  • A parent organization containing multiple subsidiaries

Create a Site

  1. Click Add Site.
  2. Select the site relationship type: Site or Multi-Site.
  3. Enter:
    • Organization Name
    • Desired URL
    • Street Address*

    • No Access
    • Read Only
    • Admin

  1. Click Save.

The street address is used only for map placement and location reference.

Collector Planning

After creating the site, determine whether you will:

  • Share an existing collector
  • Deploy a new collector

A collector can monitor multiple sites, provided it has network connectivity to the networks assigned to those sites.

Authorize Site Users

After creating a site, you can authorize existing users.

Note: Authorizations can only be configured for one site at a time.

  1. From the site list, select the site.
  2. Click Authorize.

Apply the Same Role to Multiple Users

  1. Select the users.
  2. Choose the desired role:
    • No Access
    • Read Only
    • Admin

Assign Different Roles Per User

  1. Select a user.
  2. Assign the appropriate role.
  3. Repeat as necessary.

If authorizing users on a multi-site, leaving Authorize on all sites accounts under this multi-site account enabled applies the selected permissions to all child sites.

Disable this option if you need different permissions on individual sites.

  1. Click Save.

Export the Site List

To export a list of sites:

  1. Navigate to All Sites.
  2. Click Export.

The exported file contains the information currently displayed in the site table.

Disable Sites

Disabling a site stops monitoring activity and marks billable devices as non-billable.

To disable a site:

  1. Select the site or sites.
  2. Click Disable.
  3. Confirm the action.

Important:

  • Disabling a site prevents users from accessing that site's dashboard.
  • Active monitoring, discovery, and alerting stop while the site is disabled.
  • Historical data remains available.
  • If the site has a dedicated collector, consider powering it down after disabling the site.

Enable Sites

To re-enable a site:

  1. Select the site or sites.
  2. Click Enable.
  3. Confirm the action.

Auvik may take several minutes to restore monitoring services.

If the site's collector was powered down, power it back on after enabling the site.

Move a Site

A site must be disabled before it can be moved to another multi-site.

To move a site:

  1. Select the site.
  2. Click Disable and confirm.
  3. Select the disabled site.
  4. Click Move.
  5. Select the destination multi-site.
  6. Confirm the move.
  7. Select the site again.
  8. Click Enable and confirm.

Note: When moving sites between multi-sites, perform the move from the highest level of your site hierarchy.

Delete Sites

Deleting a site should only be performed when absolutely necessary.

Warning: Site deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

To delete a site:

  1. Select the site or sites.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Type delete when prompted.
  4. Click Delete to confirm.

When a site is deleted:

  • The site and its configuration are permanently removed.
  • The site's URL prefix becomes available for reuse.
  • The site cannot be restored.

If you may need the site again in the future, consider disabling it instead of deleting it.

  2. Click anywhere on the site's row.

This is often the fastest method when managing many sites.

From the Site Map

You will be taken directly to the site's dashboard.

Return to the Global View
