Not all Meraki wireless controllers and access points are created equal when it comes to SNMP.
There are two different flavors: cloud-based and device-based SNMP. Currently, Auvik supports only device-based Meraki controllers.
To enable SNMP support on device-based controllers
- Log into the Meraki administrative interface.
- Click Network-wide settings.
- Click General.
- Under SNMP, click Allow SNMP v1/2c. Provide a community string.
- Save your changes.
- Exit the interface.
If you used a community string other than public or private, add it to Auvik by following these steps.
SNMPv3
For SNMP V3 Navigate to Network-wide > General > Reporting:
- Select V3 as SNMP version
- Enter username and password.
There is a single password field, so what you enter there will be used as both authentication and privacy passwords.
Also bear in mind that when using SNMPv3, Cisco Meraki devices won't allow you to choose authentication and privacy protocols. The setting is hardcoded: SHA for authentication and DES for privacy.
Therefore, when you set up credentials for that device in Auvik, you need choose those protocols and enter the same passphrase for both Authentication and Privacy, as shown in the example below.
