Auvik's map export feature allows you to save a copy of your network map for documentation, troubleshooting, audits, and customer reporting.
You can export your map in the following formats:
- PDF – Ideal for sharing, printing, and documentation.
- SVG – A scalable vector format suitable for editing in graphic design applications.
- VSDX – A Microsoft Visio-compatible format for further diagram customization.
For more information about VSDX exports, see the dedicated VSDX Export article.
Export a Network Map
Map Export is located near the upper-left corner of the network map, below the search bar.
- Open the network map.
- Click Map Export. (
)
- Select the desired export format:
- SVG
- VSDX
- Configure any desired export options.
- Download the exported file.
VSDX Export Options
When exporting to VSDX format, you can choose which labels appear on the exported diagram.
Available labels include:
- Device Name
- Connection Interfaces
- Primary IP Address
Select the checkbox next to each label you want included in the export.
Export Device and Connection Metadata
You can also include additional information in the exported VSDX file by enabling:
Export all device and connection metadata
When enabled, additional information collected by Auvik is embedded in the Visio objects, making it available when editing or reviewing the exported diagram.
Exporting a Specific Area of the Map
The export contains exactly what is visible on your screen at the time of export.
For example:
- If you are viewing the entire network map, the full visible map is exported.
- If you zoom into a specific portion of the network, only that area is exported.
- If you apply a search or filter, only the resulting map view is exported.
This allows you to create focused diagrams for:
- Specific sites
- Individual network segments
- Device groups
- Troubleshooting investigations
- Customer documentation
Tips for Best Results
Before exporting:
- Adjust the zoom level to include only the devices you want documented.
- Apply any filters or searches before exporting.
- Expand collapsed sections of the map if additional detail is required.
- Review device labels to ensure the exported map contains the desired information.
Additional Information
Map exports are generated from the current state of the network map and reflect the devices, connections, and topology visible at the time of export.
Changes made to the network after the export is created will not be reflected in previously exported files.
