How to create a read-only account for VMware monitoring

Auvik needs read-only credentials to properly monitor your VMware ESXi host.

You'll need to create a user with read-only permissions using the VMware Host Client (ESXi 7.0):

1. Log into the VMware ESXi with administrative rights
2. From the left-hand navigation, click on Manage
3. Choose the Security & Users tab and click on Users
4. Choose Add user  and fill in the following details:
   • User name (required)
   • Description
   • Password (required)
   • Confirm password (required)
5. Click Add
6. In the side navigation, select Host
7. Right click on host, select Permissions (or choose Actions > Permissions)
8. Click Add user, select user that you just created and select a role (read-only)
9. Make sure System is checkmarked under the Read-only role
10. Click Add user to save
11. Add the read-only credentials to Auvik
