Overview
Auvik provides native monitoring for supported Fortinet FortiGate Active/Passive HA pairs, keeping both cluster members visible and reporting health, synchronization, and failover status.
Note
Native HA monitoring currently applies to supported Fortinet HA deployments. Support for additional firewall vendors may be added in future releases.
How native HA monitoring works
For supported FortiGate HA deployments, Auvik:
- Detects the HA relationship between cluster members.
- Identifies the active and passive firewall.
- Maintains inventory for both appliances.
- Continues monitoring through HA failovers.
- Associates configuration backups with the correct firewall.
HA status
The device details page displays information such as:
- Active firewall
- Passive firewall
- Cluster synchronization status
- Overall HA health
Alerts
Auvik can generate alerts for HA events including:
HA role changes
Triggered when the active firewall changes following a failover.
HA synchronization
Triggered when cluster synchronization is no longer healthy.
These alerts help administrators detect HA issues before redundancy is lost.
Limitations
Native HA monitoring depends on:
- A supported Fortinet firewall model
- A supported FortiOS version
- A supported HA deployment mode
Some HA implementations may still require custom monitoring if native support is unavailable.
