This guide will detail how to deploy a custom profile, how to deploy the Auvik SaaS Management package, and how to run the appropriate configuration script.
Create a New Blueprint:
- Blueprints in Jamf Now are similar to configuration profiles in Jamf Pro.
-
Click on Blueprints in the left sidebar.
-
Click on + New Blueprint and give it a descriptive name and description like Auvik SaaS Management Deployment.
- Once completed, click Save Blueprint.
Add Custom Settings to Blueprint:
-
Once the Blueprint has been successfully created, you’ll be navigated to the Blueprint configuration menu. Click the Custom Profiles section. Navigate to the SaaS Management platform navigate to Org Preferences > Integrations > Custom Scripts and download the Custom Profile from within th Custom Scripts menu.
- Once you’ve downloaded the custom profile, click the Add a Custom Profile button within Jamf Now. Upload the .mobileconfig file you downloaded from the Auvik SaaS Management platform.
-
When successfully uploaded, you’ll see the new file shown under the Custom Profiles menu.
Assign Devices to Blueprint:
- Click on Devices in the left sidebar.
- Select the devices you want to assign to the blueprint.
-
Click on Assign Blueprint and select the Auvik SaaS Management Deployment blueprint.
Note: It is recommended to wait until the device checks in with Jamf, and validate that the custom profile is present on the device before following the rest of this guide. This ensures that the profile is properly pushed to the device prior to the package and configuration script being run. If the profile does not exist on the device, the deployment may not be silent, and users may receive permission prompts.
Deploying a Custom Package:
- First, download the Auvik SaaS Agent Package by navigating to Org Preferences > Integrations > Custom Script and select the button to download the .pkg file. Save the file to your local device, as this .pkg will be uploaded to Jamf.
Upload the Package to Jamf Now:
-
Navigate to the Apps section, within the Jamf Now sidebar.
-
Choose Add an App and then select the Upload Your App option.
- Once uploaded, the Auvik SaaS agent will be available within Jamf’s app directory, and can easily be added to any Blueprint or deployed on any device.
Assign the Package to Blueprint:
-
Navigate to the Blueprints menu and select the Auvik SaaS Management Blueprint that you created when deploying the Custom Profile. Select the Apps menu from the sidebar and select Add App. Check the box to Install Automatically next to the app you built in the prior step and then select Save Changes.
- Running the Configuration Script:
-
Once the .pkg file and custom profile have been pushed to enrolled devices, a configuration script should be run to configure the device to check-in with the correct tenant of Auvik SaaS Management.
As of Aug 2023, Jamf Now does not natively support the deployment of custom scripts like Jamf Pro does.It is recommended to use whatever tool you typically use to run scripts on your MacOS devices.
- The configuration script is available both as a .sh file and for you to copy/paste into a tool of your choice. To do this for a specific client tenant, navigate to Org Preferences > Integrations > Custom Script within the Auvik SaaS Management Platform, and then select the desired client tenant in the dropdown. For deployments via Jamf or similar, be sure to use the script listed under the Installing Auvik SaaS Management on Mac Using MDM option.
- Once the configuration script has been run, you should see the device check-in to Auvik SaaS Management within the Users > Devices menu within a particular client tenant.1
