App Classification Status

Shows how many apps have been classified by lifecycle stage or business owner. Use this to highlight implementation progress. Classification is foundational to improving security posture, compliance tracking, and spend management. Application classification is an ongoing process as new apps are continuously discovered. We recommend starting with those marked as Critical or High Risk to ensure the most impactful security and compliance coverage.

Recently Discovered Applications

Tracks trends in newly identified apps in your environment. Use this to stay proactive in managing SaaS sprawl and validating whether new tools align with business needs and policy standards. Use the Recently Discovered view to validate usage trends and take action on new discoveries.

Shadow IT Applications

Highlights newly discovered, high-risk Shadow IT apps. Risk scores reflect potential exposure based on app category, with higher scores often linked to AI tools, password managers, and file-sharing services due to their access to sensitive data. Use this to assess tools flying under the radar that may pose unnecessary security risks. Review and classify apps using the Possible Shadow IT view to enhance security and procurement alignment.

High-Risk Users

Pinpoints users adopting apps more aggressively than average. Use this to flag potential training or policy gaps. Review individual app usage or utilize the User Application Inventory report to start conversations about standardization and risk.

Pro tip: You can schedule the report to stay on top of patterns.

AI Applications

Detects AI tools in use across your environment. Use this to spot potential concerns and support governance of emerging tech. Prioritize AI-specific security reviews and classify applications using the Possible Shadow AI view to ensure appropriate oversight of AI tools.

SSO Coverage

Highlights apps that support SSO but haven’t enabled it. Use this to drive quick security wins with minimal effort. The default view displays apps that support SSO but don’t have it enabled, prioritized by risk to help drive SSO enforcement.

Overlapping Tools

Real-time log of key activities like new app usage or shared logins. Stay ahead of rapid changes and risks by setting up custom alerts to keep stakeholders informed and agile.

License Insights (via SaaS Ops Integration)

License Insights help reduce software waste by identifying underutilized or unused licenses. This supports smarter spend management, streamlined offboarding, and improved ROI through more efficient license allocation. For more details about SaaS Ops Integrations, check out our Knowledge Base articles.

Underutilized Licenses

Flags apps with licenses that have been inactive for 30+ days. Drill into each app, identify inactive users, and offboard them using the Employee Lifecycle tool.

Undetected Accounts

Highlights apps with licenses that have never been activated or used, based on usage collected via the Auvik SaaS Agent or Identity Management Provider integration. Use this to eliminate waste and right-size licensing.

Pro tip: Ensure usage data is captured by verifying that an agent or identity provider (IDP) is configured for all users. Also, add contract details to support proactive renewal management.
