Deploying the SaaS Management Collector via Acronis RMM

Follow

Below is a step-by-step guide for deploying the Auvik SaaS Management agent and browser extension to your devices using Acronis

Important Notes:

  • Acronis supports a unique individual script for each client deployment.
  • When using the Acronis integration for deployment, ensure you’re enabled to use the product’s endpoint management features, including the Advanced Management pack.

  1. Prerequisites
  2. Creating a Deployment Script in Acronis
  3. Testing Your Deployment
  4. Setting Up a Recurring Scripting Plan

In this guide, you’ll learn how to:

  • Create a new PowerShell deployment script in Acronis.
  • Run a test deployment on one or more devices to confirm the successful installation of the SaaS Management data collector.
  • Automate recurring deployments to ensure new or offline devices also receive the collector.

Prerequisites

  1. Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud tenant access with Advanced Management features enabled.
  2. The SaaS Management script from Auvik SaaS Management.
    • You’ll copy this from the Auvik SaaS Management dashboard.
  3. Proper permissions within Acronis to create or approve scripts in the Script Repository.

Creating a Deployment Script in Acronis

  1. Log in to Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud
    • Open your Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud portal and select the desired tenant where you want to deploy the SaaS Management collector.
  2. Navigate to the Script Repository
    • In the left-hand navigation panel, click on Script Repository.

  1. Create a New Script
    • Select Create Script by Using AI (or a similarly labeled button) to proceed to the script creation screen.
  2. Configure Script Details
    • In the right-hand sidebar (the script configuration panel), configure the fields as follows:
      • Script Name: Provide a friendly, memorable name.
        - Best practice: include the client name and a short descriptor
        • e.g.: ClientName_AuvikSM_Deployment
      • Description: Add a helpful description.
        - Include the creation date or version info
        • e.g.: “Deployment script created on 2024-12-30”
      • Status: Set to Approved.
  3. Obtain the Deployment Script from Auvik SaaS Management
    • In a separate tab or browser window, open Auvik SaaS Management.
    • Navigate to Org Preferences > Integrations > Acronis
    • Select the client from the drop-down menu shown
    • Copy the entire script from the Auvik SaaS Management platform.
  4. Paste the Script into Acronis
    • Return to the Acronis script creation window.
    • Paste your copied script on line 1 of the script editor.
    • Click Save to store your new script in the repository.

Testing Your Deployment

Once your script is saved and approved, it’s best practice to test it on a small number of devices before deploying widely.

  1. Open My Scripts
    • After saving, from the Script Repository menu, locate the newly created script.
  2. Run a one-time test of the deployment script
    • Select the script
    • Click Script Quick Run
  3. Choose Target Devices
    • In the sidebar or pop-up that appears, click Add Workloads to select specific test devices
  4. Configure Run Settings
    • Run Frequency: Set to Run Once for initial testing.
    • Account to Execute the Script: System Account.
    • Maximum Duration: 10 minutes.
    • Powershell Execution Policy: Bypass (to ensure the script can run without policy conflicts).

  1. Run the Script
    • Click Run Now (or a similar label).
    • Monitor the status to confirm successful execution.

Tip: If the script runs successfully, you should see the device name show in your Auvik SaaS Management portal that the new devices have registered. You’ll see new devices check in under Clients > Select a Client > Identities & Assets > Devices.

Setting Up a Recurring Scripting Plan

After verifying the script works correctly, we recommend scheduling it to run on a recurring basis so new or offline devices are automatically captured.

  1. Navigate to Scripting Plans
    • In Acronis, find the Scripting Plans in the sidebar section.
  2. Create a New Scripting Plan
    • Give your plan a descriptive name.
      • e.g.: “Weekly – Auvik SaaS Management Deployment”
  3. Select the Deployment Script & Schedule
    • Choose your newly created SaaS Management deployment script from the list.
    • Configure the frequency.
      • e.g.: weekly, daily, or a custom schedule
    • Recommended: At least weekly to ensure new devices or those offline during the first run get the collector installed.
  4. Set Execution Details
    • Account to Execute the Script: System Account.
    • Maximum Duration: 10 Minutes (or a suitable time limit based on your environment).
    • Powershell Execution Policy: Bypass

Select your desired workloads and devices, and when completed select “Create” to allow the deployment script to run regularly on the selected devices according to the defined schedule.
