Uninstalling the Auvik Endpoint Agent on Windows servers

Follow

The Auvik Endpoint Agent includes an uninstall script that removes the agent and its associated services from a Windows server.

Important: You must have local administrator privileges on the Windows device to uninstall the Endpoint Agent.

Uninstall the Endpoint Agent

  1. Open Command Prompt as an Administrator.
  2. Run the following command:
"C:\Program Files\Auvik\Auvik Agent\uninstall.bat"
  1. Allow the script to complete.

The uninstall script stops the Auvik Endpoint Agent services and removes the agent from the system.

Verify the Uninstall

After the script completes:

  1. Open Services (services.msc).
  2. Verify that the Auvik Endpoint Agent services are no longer present.
  3. Confirm that the Auvik Agent installation directory has been removed or is no longer actively used.
  4. Verify that the device no longer reports endpoint monitoring data to Auvik.

Depending on communication timing and polling intervals, it may take several minutes before the device status is updated within the Auvik dashboard.

Troubleshooting

Access Denied or Insufficient Privileges

If the uninstall script fails due to permissions:

  • Verify that Command Prompt was launched using Run as administrator.
  • Confirm that your account has local administrator privileges on the device.

Uninstall Script Not Found

If the script cannot be located:

  • Verify that the Endpoint Agent is installed.
  • Confirm the installation path exists:
C:\Program Files\Auvik\Auvik Agent\
  • Check whether the agent was installed in a non-default location.

Services Remain After Uninstall

If the uninstall process completes but services remain:

  1. Restart the server.
  2. Verify the services are still present.
  3. Run the uninstall script again using an elevated Command Prompt.

If the issue persists, contact Auvik Support for assistance.

Additional Information

Removing the Endpoint Agent stops endpoint monitoring and data collection from the device.

If you plan to reinstall the Endpoint Agent, ensure that any previous installation has been successfully removed before deploying a new agent.
