Interface status mismatch alert


The details shown below are based on the default settings. Options for editing this alert don’t include the ability to edit the trigger or clear condition definitions. You can specify whether the alert should clear based on how it’s configured, or whether it should have no clear condition and be cleared manually.


Primary purpose: Notify when an interface that’s administratively up is found to be operationally down.

Possible causes for this alert include:

  • A shutdown command issued by someone with access to the device’s configuration
  • A cable that’s been unplugged

Alert severity


Repetitive alert pause condition

After 5 occurrences within 2 hours against a specific entity, pause the alert for 24 hours

Alert trigger condition

An interface is administratively up and operationally down.

Alert clear condition

The interface that appeared to have a mismatch between the administrative and operational statuses no longer shows as mismatched. In other words:

  • the administrative and operational statuses are both up, or
  • the administrative and operational statuses are both down.

Action(s) to be taken

Check the status of the interface to determine why it’s no longer online.
