What happens if the condition remains active?
Dismissing a notification removes it from the active notification view, but it does not correct or change the underlying monitored condition.
For Legacy alerts that support manual dismissal:
- If the condition remains true, the same active event generally does not trigger another notification after it has been dismissed.
- If the condition clears and later becomes true again, a new alert can be generated and notifications will be sent according to the alert definition.
- Dismissing an alert should not be used as a substitute for investigating the underlying issue.
For example, if a device remains offline after its offline alert is dismissed, dismissing the alert does not bring the device back online. A new notification is expected only after the condition has cleared and the device later becomes offline again.
Alerts v2 behavior
Alerts v2 alerts generally cannot be manually dismissed from the dashboard. They resolve when the configured clear condition is met or when an applicable Auto Clear setting takes effect.
If an Alerts v2 alert remains active:
- Review the alert’s trigger and clear conditions.
- Confirm that the monitored metric or device status is updating.
- Check whether an alert delay or clear delay is configured.
- Resolve the underlying condition or wait for the clear condition to be met.

How to receive another notification
If you need a new notification for the same issue:
- Allow the condition to return to normal and then become active again.
- Review the alert’s trigger and clear conditions if repeat notifications are required.
- Use alert delays or separate alert definitions to manage repeated notifications without dismissing active events.
Do not intentionally interrupt a production device or service to test re-triggering. Use a non-production device or an approved maintenance window for testing.
